Prof. Michaela Dickgiesser
Born in Heidelberg, Michaela Dickgiesser studied musicology, art history and literature at the University of Karlsruhe. A transition to the business world, with the post of Managing Director at Dr. Dickgiesser Assekurranz-Makler OHG, conjoined her experience in the field of art and culture with the world of finance. In addition to her successful career in management, Michaela Dieckgiesser was involved in founding the IT Unterstützerkasse, which deals with the national expansion of company pension schemes. She advises and supports several DAX companies and is intensively involved in the development of cultural activities, both in Karlsruhe and throughout the country.
Michaela Dickgiesser served for many years on the University Council of the Karlsruhe University of Music. During her terms as chairperson, she contributed significantly to the integration of the university in the city and region. Her main focus was on the conception and organisation of concerts by young artists, developing sponsorship, and promoting cooperation with foreign universities. She is an honorary Senator of the Karlsruhe University of Music and winner of the Velte Prize. In 2018, Michaela Dickgiesser was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for her services.
As a board member of several foundations – among others: the Stiftung Hilfe mit Plan Hamburg, the Chaine-Stiftung Deutschland and the Cleven Stiftung – she also does volunteer work throughout Germany.
Michaela Dickgiesser is married and has two children. She is an enthusiastic organist.
