Prof. Christiane Libor

Born in Berlin, Christiane Libor studied with Anneliese Fried at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler." She was a student of Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Júlia Várady and Brigitte Fassbaender. She was a prize-winner of the Mozart Competition Salzburg in 1999 and received the O. E. Hasse Prize of the Academy of Arts Berlin in 1997.

Christiane Libor works internationally at major opera houses such as the Zurich Opera, Washington Opera, Seattle Opera, Berlin State Opera, Semper Opera and the Opera Bastille in the lyric to dramatic soprano range. The works of Richard Wagner, in particular, have determined her career. She has appeared with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, and worked with conductors Kurt Masur, Marc Minkowski, Antoni Wit, Sebastian Weigle, Marek Janowski, Jaap van Zweden, Simone Young, Ingo Metzmacher, Asher Fisch, Phillipp Jordan, to name but a few.

Since her student days, Christiane Libor has had a special fondness for the world of Lieder and concerts. Numerous CD recordings document her work.

Since 2011, Christiane Libor has held a professorship at the University of Music in Karlsruhe and transmits her knowledge of voice development to young singers. Her graduates sing at national and internationally renowned opera houses such as La Scala in Milan, the Semperoper in Dresden, and the Staatsoper and Deutsche Oper in Berlin.
